Wild Wild Westbrook

A few nights ago the Oklahoma City Thunder played the Utah Jazz. Whenever these two teams collide, there is a lot of intensity and animosity ever since their dual in the postseason last season where the Utah Jazz bounced the Thunder in the first round of the playoffs. This happening caused the Utah fans to erupt and become almost to joyous to a fault. As of last night when the two teams faced off again, the star point guard was at his team’s bench on the sideline and a fan began to heckle Russell Westbrook. Telling him to ice his knees then the all-star proceeded to tell him how the medical pack he was holding was heat, the fan continued to tell him to use it then. After this was said a conflict erupted from the all-star telling the fan that he would “F****” him up. Saying “I will f**** you and your wife up.”

After the game in the press conference, Russell then clarified that he would never put his hands on a female. He feels as if there should be rules put in place to contain the fans from being able to almost do and say anything at these basketball games. He voices how “If they saw me walking down the street then they wouldn’t say what they would say in the arenas.” Which is very true and considering where basketball is the only sport where the fans are actually in arms reach from the players. Since the major incident of the “Malice in the Palace” with the Indiana Pacers, there were rules put in place for the players, but not for the fans. The all-star point guard has been fined $25k for ‘directing profanity and threatening language to a fan.’ Do you feel like Westbrook was in the wrong or the fan?
